Graffiti of JoBurg and Capetown (Dec 12) : No secret: I like graffiti. People often forget that it is part of Hip Hop culture. I asked our guide, Lekisa from Ek Se Tours (@EkSeTours), to show me the spots. He took me to a spot under the highway that had some great, large scale murals. I just kept snapping pix until i got them all. In other parts of Capetown and JoBurg, especially the townships, I found a few more.

Sorry for the size of this gallery. I hope you enjoy it.

Meeting of Styles - Chicago (Sep 12) : Meeting of Styles is a graf meet-up that has locations around the world. This Fall, it came to Chicago. The art was best around the Crawford Steel building. Here are my favorite photos from MOS 2012. Shout outs to the artists and the DJ's for representing hip hop. My favorite "duo" was a DJ and a drummer that were jamming together all afternoon on Saturday. It was awesome.

Graffiti of Prague (May 11) : During a meeting in Prague, I had a chance to wander looking for street area. found a gold mine near the overpass of a highway. Here are some shots of that area and some other graf I saw during my walks. Enjoy.

Graffiti of Panama (Mar 11) : Hip-hop in Panama wasn't "everywhere", but I did see some nice graf. I normally have a hard time reading it, and in Spanish, I had no hope. If you can help me translate, please leave it in a comment. The "treat" on this trip was some 500+ year of old graffiti in the form of the Petroglyphs of Caldera. Talk about Old School hip hop... 8-) Enjoy

The Graffiti of Budapest (May 11) : I didn't see a ton of Graf in Budapest, but I shot what I saw. I'll have to search a little harder next time. However, I did come across a festival that had some Hungarian hip hop artists performing, so I know the culture is alive and well over there.

Graffiti of Rome (May 11) : As soon as you enter Rome on the ride from the airport, you are thrown back into the 70's and 80's in NYC. Seemingly every building is covered with graf. Unfortunately, much of it was unimaginative tagging and basic throw-ups. I only saw a few murals that were really nice (as opposed to Prague). I was only there for a day (after an overnight flight), so I shot what I could and snapped a few others on the ride back to the airport. Next time, I put some effort into really capturing what the bomber have done in Rome. Enjoy.

Venice Beach Graffiti (Jan 10) : It was tough to pass up a change to shoot and meet some of the guys bombing at the wall. Although I've shot a lot of graf, I hadn't met any of the artists. It was a shockingly diverse group of guys. Hip Hop is apparently more diverse that I already though it was...

Color of My Soul & Hallidie Plaza (SFO) (Jun 08) : During a trip to SFO, I shot a bunch of photos of people in front of two murals near Halldie Plaza. The full gallery is in the US Travel section, but here are a few shots of the murals.

Chicago Southside Murals (Aug 08) : On the South Side of Chicago, there are some amazing murals. For a long time, I've been meaning to go out a shoot them all. I had been keep a log of them all in a spreadsheet so I know where they are and when the lighting is best. In Fall 2008, I took my camera out for a drive and got some passers-by to pose for some photos.

I'm not sure i like this gallery, so think of it as a "test run". I'll probably go back and re-shoot them at some point in the future. For now, these are my favorites from the day.

Amsterdam (May 07) : A sub-set of photos I took during a trip to Amsterdam. Next time, I will make a more concerted effort to shoot the graf....

Graffiti of Spain (Jul 11) : Like Rome, you don't have to try hard to find graffiti murals in Spain. Especially along the train routes, it is everywhere. The problem is that a lot of it is fairly boring and not terribly creative. I was able to find some good stuff in Valencia and even a little outside of Barcelona. Here are some of the murals I saw during the trip.

Graffiti of Paris (Sep 11) : A very small gallery of the graffiti I saw in Paris. With more exploring next time, I hope to find more... This was pretty weak.
